Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has sanctioned two crucial railway infrastructure projects valued at ₹2,781 crore. These proposals from the Ministry of Railways are set to significantly boost capacity and connectivity in Gujarat and Maharashtra. The approved projects encompass the doubling of a 141 km stretch from Devbhumi Dwarka (Okha) to Kanalus and the addition of a third and fourth line over 32 km between Badlapur and Karjat.
Collectively, these initiatives will introduce 224 km of new railway lines, enhancing the network's reach and efficiency. This expansion is anticipated to improve train services for nearly 585 villages, serving a population of approximately 3.2 million. The increased track capacity is expected to alleviate congestion, enable more frequent train services, and improve overall service reliability for passengers and freight.
Both projects are integrated within the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, underscoring a commitment to multi-modal transportation and logistics optimization. This coordinated planning approach aims to streamline operations and enhance the efficiency of India's transport infrastructure, contributing to economic growth and improved connectivity across the region.
