Indian Railways Prioritizes Seniors, Women in Berth Allotment

Senior citizens, women aged 45 and above, and pregnant women are now eligible for automatic lower berth allocation when such berths are available. This policy aims to provide greater comfort and convenience for these passengers.
Furthermore, Indian Railways has established dedicated reservation quotas for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and their escorts. In cases where lower berths become vacant during a journey, priority is given to senior citizens, PwD individuals, or pregnant women who were initially assigned middle or upper berths, ensuring equitable access to the most sought-after seating.
