Summary
- Two LPG carriers safely passed through the Gulf region.
- BW TYR and BW ELM carry approximately 94,000 MT of LPG.
- Government is expediting PNG infrastructure in defense areas.

Two LPG carriers, BW TYR and BW ELM, carrying a combined 94,000 metric tons of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, have safely transited the Gulf region amidst heightened geopolitical tensions. BW TYR is expected to arrive in Mumbai by March 31, while BW ELM is scheduled to reach New Mangalore by April 1. These safe passages are a crucial update for India's oil and gas supply, which has been indirectly impacted by the international climate.
In parallel, the Indian government is implementing measures to ensure an uninterrupted supply of petroleum products and LPG nationwide. A significant step involves expediting the installation of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) infrastructure in defense residential areas. The Ministry of Defence issued a policy modification, effective until June 30, 2026, to facilitate this transition.
