The Commerce Ministry has revealed that India has agreed to the US suggestion of including a tranche of the Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) as part of the negotiations. The negotiating teams from both countries remain actively engaged, and any formal announcement is expected on a mutually agreed date.
Responding to reports of a decline in India's electronics exports to the US, the ministry has termed such assessments "very simplistic." Officials have clarified that the fluctuation is largely seasonal and pointed out that electronics exports to both the US and China have, in fact, risen by more than 15% year-on-year.
