India Real Estate Surges: Deal Values Triple to $2.3 Billion
21 Jul
Summary
- India's real estate deal values nearly tripled to $2.3 billion in Q2 2026.
- Private equity investments and commercial real estate attracted significant capital.
- Residential development deal values saw a substantial 88% decline.

India's real estate sector demonstrated a remarkable recovery in the second quarter of 2026, with transaction values soaring to $2.3 billion, a nearly threefold increase from the previous quarter. This surge was primarily driven by substantial private equity investments and a revival in capital market activities. A total of 39 deals were recorded, marking an 18% rise in transaction volume.
Mergers and acquisitions constituted the largest share of transactions, accounting for 56% of the total. Private equity deals followed, representing 34% of the market. Commercial real estate continued to be the primary magnet for institutional capital, attracting $997 million across 12 deals. This segment saw significant private equity involvement, with 13 transactions totaling $1.2 billion.
In stark contrast, residential development experienced a severe downturn, with deal values plummeting by 88% to just $22 million. This indicates a clear shift in investor focus towards high-quality, income-generating commercial properties. Despite this, overall market confidence appears to be growing, with expectations for continued institutional capital inflow into the commercial real estate space.
