India Post has announced a significant financial achievement, posting a 16% revenue growth to ₹15296 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26. This marks a historic year for the Department of Posts, according to Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The growth was propelled by key sectors including parcels, mail, and savings.
The parcels segment experienced a remarkable 69% increase, contributing ₹1133 crore in FY26. Mail services also showed robust growth, with revenue rising to ₹3202 crore, a 34% jump from the previous fiscal. Citizen-centric services and Post office Savings Bank deposits also reported substantial gains.
Furthermore, the department has successfully narrowed the gap between its expenditure and revenue by approximately ₹1500 crore in FY26. While total expenditure, including pensions, was around ₹38631 crore, the deficit excluding pensions reduced significantly, reflecting improved financial management.
Looking ahead, India Post aims to fully bridge the income-expenditure gap within the next five years. The department has also expanded its network, adding 11,000 new post offices in rural areas over the past four years, reinforcing its commitment to universal service obligation.
