India Post's New 24-Hour Delivery Challenge

India Post has launched new premium delivery services, including 24-hour and 48-hour guarantees for urgent shipments. This strategic move aims to enhance its competitiveness in India's rapidly expanding e-commerce market.
These services, named 24 Speed Post, 24 Speed Post Parcel, and 48 Speed Post, are initially available in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. The Department of Posts plans to extend this coverage nationwide by March 2027, utilizing dedicated processing and priority air transport.
Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted the significant opportunity in the e-commerce sector, projected to grow to Rs 30 lakh crore by 2030. He emphasized that the parcel business, currently 5% of India Post's revenue, is targeted to become a key growth engine.
The enhanced features include OTP-verified deliveries, real-time tracking, SMS alerts, and options like 'Book Now, Pay Later' for businesses. Additional benefits for businesses are free pickup for bulk shipments and a money-back guarantee for delayed deliveries.
