The Department of Posts has announced a significant recruitment drive, releasing a notification for 23,757 Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) positions. This recruitment is part of the GDS Online Engagement Schedule-II, July 2026. The One-Time Registration (OTR) process is scheduled to commence on August 31, 2026, with online applications and fee submissions accepted from September 2 to September 21, 2026.
Vacancies are available across multiple postal circles, with Maharashtra offering the highest number at 2,297 posts, followed by Tamil Nadu with 2,118 and Uttar Pradesh with 1,691. The eligibility criteria include being between 18 and 40 years of age as of September 21, 2026, and having passed Class 10 with Mathematics and English. A working knowledge of the relevant local language, basic computer proficiency, and cycling skills are also mandatory.
Selected candidates will receive a Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 29,380, depending on the position, with daily working hours between four and five. The selection process is merit-based, relying on Class 10 marks. Shortlisted candidates will undergo document verification and a medical examination. Branch Postmasters will need to arrange accommodation for their office at their own expense.
