Cities like Srinagar, Guwahati, Patna, Varanasi, Ahmedabad, and Goa are among those assessed for potential water metro implementation. Feasibility studies for Lakshadweep and Kolkata are currently underway.
KMRL's Managing Director, Loknath Behera, highlighted the potential for KMRL to become a global center of excellence in urban water mobility. The organization has already generated ₹8 crore in consultancy revenue from these studies, demonstrating the economic viability and growing demand for such sustainable transport solutions.
