Summary
- FPIs were net buyers totaling ₹6,062.41 crore by February 27, 2026.
- Equity dominated inflows with ₹5,703.37 crore invested during the week.
- Despite inflows, Nifty and Sensex saw weekly declines.

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) concluded the week ending February 27, 2026, as net buyers, recording total inflows of ₹6,062.41 crore. Equity markets were the main attraction, drawing ₹5,703.37 crore throughout the five-day period, with February 24 marking the highest single-day inflow.
Despite the week's net buying, a notable reversal occurred on the final trading day, February 27, when FPIs became net sellers of ₹2,778.36 crore. This late outflow capped a broadly positive month for foreign investment in Indian markets.
Debt segments presented a mixed performance. While Debt-General Limit saw inflows early in the week, it turned negative by February 27. Debt-FAR experienced significant inflows on February 26 but also reversed to an outflow by week's end.
Experts noted a clear shift in FPI strategy towards India, with total February investments through exchanges reaching ₹19,782 crore by the 27th. While financial services and capital goods saw buying, IT stocks experienced heavy selling.
Benchmark indices reflected underlying caution, with the Nifty 50 declining 1.54% and the BSE Sensex falling 1.84% for the week. Domestic institutional investors partially offset FPI selling by purchasing equities worth ₹24,312 crore.
