The Indian government has announced a controlled relaxation of its export ban on wheat flour and related products, permitting limited outbound shipments. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issued the amendment, establishing a detailed procedure for applications and eligibility.
The first application window for export authorization will be open from January 21 to January 31, 2026, with subsequent monthly opportunities available until the total export quantity is utilized. Each authorization will be valid for six months, with potential extensions considered by a special committee. Eligible applicants include flour mills and merchant exporters with specific tie-ups, ensuring compliance with sourcing and production standards.
