Summary
- Ministry refuted claims of payment issues for Iranian crude oil.
- A tanker's reported diversion to China was attributed to trade optimization.
- India assures sufficient crude oil and LPG supplies for upcoming months.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has officially denied media and social media reports alleging payment issues with Iranian crude oil cargo destined for India. These reports claimed a specific tanker's cargo was diverted to China from Vadinar, India.
In a statement, the Ministry characterized these claims as factually inaccurate. They explained that Bills of Lading often list indicative ports, and vessels may change destinations mid-voyage for trade optimization and operational flexibility. This ensures India's refiners can secure their crude oil needs, including from Iran.
Furthermore, the Ministry confirmed that India's crude oil imports are fully secured for the next several months. They also addressed concerns regarding Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), noting that an LPG vessel carrying Iranian LPG had recently berthed and was discharging its cargo at Mangalore.
India maintains a diverse import strategy, sourcing crude oil from more than 40 countries. This allows companies the flexibility to optimize sourcing based on commercial considerations.
