Hyundai Sedans Surge as EVs Dip in July Sales

Hyundai Motor Group reported strong July sales, exceeding 165,000 vehicles across its Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands. Hyundai's performance was significantly boosted by its sedans, with the Elantra seeing a 39% increase and the Sonata up 18% compared to July 2025. These gains occurred even as the overall market favors crossovers and SUVs.
Kia achieved a 7% year-over-year sales increase, selling 75,857 vehicles. The Sportage, K4, and Telluride were top performers for Kia. Genesis also saw growth, with its GV70 and GV80 models posting 10% increases and the all-electric GV60 rising by 17%.
However, electric vehicle sales presented a mixed picture. For Hyundai, Ioniq 5 sales dropped 38% and Ioniq 9 sales fell 35%. Kia's EV6 saw a 48% decrease, and the EV9 sales declined by five percent. Genesis was the sole exception, with its all-electric GV60 experiencing a sales increase.
