Hyderabad Growth Corridor Set for Major Expansion
24 Feb
Summary
- TDA proposes tripling ORR growth corridor to 3 km.
- Expansion aims to redirect city growth towards expressways.
- TDA urges strict adherence to conservation zone rules.

The Telangana Developers' Association (TDA) has formally requested the state government to triple the width of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) growth corridor from one to three kilometers. This proposal, submitted to special chief secretary Jayesh Ranjan, aims to guide Hyderabad's expansion towards the expressway, aligning with planned radial roads. The TDA believes this expansion, coupled with grid-pattern roads, will facilitate urban growth and alleviate congestion in the central city areas.
Furthermore, the TDA emphasized the need to protect environmental zones, urging against relaxations for farmhouse constructions. They argued that such developments would disrupt ecological balance and negatively impact agricultural production. The association also called for the installation of mini sewer treatment plants in villages near Himayatsagar and Osmansagar to prevent lake pollution and preserve local heritage, advocating strict adherence to existing regulations and NGT recommendations.
