Honda is set to launch new models in India, with the Rebel 300 cruiser and ADV 160 adventure scooter anticipated as key attractions. Both vehicles are expected to benefit from local manufacturing, which could enable more competitive pricing.
The Rebel 300, powered by a 286cc engine, aims to challenge established bikes like the Royal Enfield Classic 350. Its predecessor, the Rebel 500, was previously offered as a costlier CKD model.
The ADV 160 maxi-scooter will headline Honda's scooter offerings, targeting customers seeking a premium and performance-oriented option. This scooter features a 157cc engine and will compete with models like the Yamaha Aerox and Hero Xoom 160.
Beyond these, Honda may have further product surprises, potentially including additional premium motorcycles or a third electric vehicle.
Tsutsumu Otani, HMSI's president and CEO, indicated that the company is exploring cost-effective systems for the Indian market, possibly influencing the Rebel 300's features, such as the availability of Honda's E-Clutch system.
