Sheffield Landmark to Host Events, Retail, and Offices
7 May
Summary
- Former Henderson's Relish factory to become events, retail, and office space.
- University of Sheffield's plans aim to bring the historic building back to use.
- The 19th-century building dates back to the factory's condiment production era.

Plans have been submitted to Sheffield City Council to transform the former Henderson's Relish factory into a mixed-use space for events, retail, and offices. The University of Sheffield, which purchased the 19th-century building in 2015, is seeking permission for the change of use.
The proposals aim to bring the prominent Leavygreave Road landmark back into active use, ensuring no harm to its heritage significance. The building, which produced the popular condiment sauce from 1959 until 2013, has undergone refurbishment.
Under the new plans, the ground floor will feature retail space and host events, while the first floor will serve as a marketing office. External enhancements include new paving, solar panels, and CCTV. The development is described as sensitively designed to preserve the building's character.
