Beginning in December, a new express weekday train service from Hastings to London is set to dramatically decrease peak journey times by as much as 14 minutes. Rail operator Southeastern is introducing this express route as part of a broader timetable overhaul designed to offer more frequent services and better connections across south-east London, Kent, and East Sussex.
The fast train will call at St Leonards Warrior Square, Battle, Tunbridge Wells, London Bridge, Waterloo East, and Charing Cross. The morning service departs Hastings at 08:05, reaching Charing Cross at 09:33, with a return service leaving Charing Cross at 16:11 and arriving in Hastings at 17:42. Southeastern confirmed the fastest journey from Hastings to London Bridge will take one hour and 18 minutes.
Beyond the Hastings express, Southeastern's improvements include half-hourly semi-fast services between Tunbridge Wells and Charing Cross on weekdays and Saturdays. Commuters can also expect more late-evening journeys to and from Hastings. Additionally, the Maidstone East line will see more frequent services, including extra direct trains to Charing Cross and a new hourly train to Charing Cross on Sundays.
