20 May
Summary
- Hasbro's Q1 profit soared to $198.4 million, nearly doubling year-over-year.
- Revenue increased 13% to $1 billion, exceeding expectations.
- Wizards of the Coast and digital-gaming segment saw 26% revenue growth.

In the first quarter, Hasbro reported a substantial financial uplift, with its profit nearly doubling year-over-year to $198.4 million. Revenue saw a robust increase of 13%, reaching $1 billion. This growth significantly surpassed analyst expectations and the company's previous guidance.
The primary driver behind Hasbro's impressive performance was the exceptional strength of its Wizards of the Coast and digital-gaming segment. This division, which encompasses popular intellectual properties such as Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons, experienced a 26% revenue increase. Factors contributing to this success included expanded distribution, new player acquisition, and strong repeat purchases from collectors.
While the consumer-products unit reported flat revenue, Hasbro noted growth within its toy-and-game business and remains optimistic about full-year performance for this segment. The entertainment division, however, saw a 24% revenue decline due to the timing of deals.
Looking ahead, Hasbro has reaffirmed its full-year financial projections, anticipating revenue growth of 3% to 5% in constant currency. The company also anticipates adjusted EBITDA between $1.4 billion and $1.45 billion. Separately, Hasbro is addressing potential costs related to a recent cybersecurity breach, working to restore systems and seeking reimbursement for certain expenses.
