Gurgaon's traffic congestion is set to ease with the approval of five new grade separators, including flyovers and underpasses, at critical city junctions. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has allocated Rs 302 crore from the state budget for these projects. The planned grade separators are located at Dadi Sati Chowk, Ambedkar Chowk, Bakhtawar Chowk, Millennium City Centre, and the Garhi railway crossing.
The Dadi Sati Chowk flyover project, estimated at Rs 47 crore, has had its detailed project report approved and is slated for tender this month. This 630-metre structure aims to alleviate congestion at the intersection of sectors 85, 86, 89, and 90.
At Ambedkar Chowk, a Rs 59-crore flyover awaits DPR approval. This 950-metre, two-lane structure will connect sectors 45, 46, 51, and 52, improving traffic flow towards Sohna Road.
Bakhtawar Chowk will feature a unique double-decker structure with an underpass for vehicles and a metro corridor above, pending a final government decision. This junction will also host a proposed metro station, integrating transport modes.
Additionally, a rail overbridge is planned at the Garhi railway crossing to enhance connectivity between sectors 36 and 37 and the Dwarka Expressway. A proposed underpass at Millennium City Centre is also undergoing a detailed study.
The budget also earmarks Rs 247 crore for a new 100 MLD water treatment plant and storage facility at Basai Water Works, and Rs 78 crore for a similar plant at Chandu-Budhera Water Works. Further plans include an eight-lane elevated corridor from NH8 to Vatika Chowk (Rs 1,065 crore) and another eight-lane elevated stretch on the Southern Peripheral Road (Rs 1,846 crore).
