11 Feb
Summary
- G.Skill faces a $2.4 million settlement over alleged misleading RAM advertising.
- Consumers may receive up to $1.3 million combined from the settlement.
- Claims must be submitted by April 7, 2026, for affected US customers.

G.Skill is set to compensate customers following a class-action lawsuit settlement totaling $2.4 million. The lawsuit alleged that G.Skill engaged in misleading advertising by claiming its RAM could "run at the advertised speed out of the box" without disclosing the necessary BIOS configuration.
Eligible consumers in the U.S. who purchased G.Skill DDR4 RAM with speeds over 2133MHz or DDR5 RAM with speeds over 4800MHz between January 31, 2018, and January 7, 2026, can now submit claims. Approximately $1.3 million from the settlement will be distributed among these consumers.
While G.Skill denies any wrongdoing, the company opted to settle the dispute. The settlement requires court approval, with a final hearing scheduled for June 5. Affected customers have until April 7, 2026, to file their claims. As part of the agreement, G.Skill will update product disclosures to mention the requirement for overclocking/BIOS adjustments for maximum speed.
