Grubhub's parent company, Wonder, has acquired Claim, a restaurant rewards application established in 2021. Claim offers users cash-back rewards redeemable for dine-in or pick-up orders, while enabling restaurants to create promotions and gain performance insights.
The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Claim had previously raised $20 million, with its valuation estimated at $62 million. This strategic move is intended to provide Grubhub's restaurant partners with Claim's customer acquisition and retention tools, thereby enhancing savings and rewards for Grubhub diners.
Claim's CEO, Sam Obletz, stated that the app's rewards experience and machine learning models connect restaurants with regular customers. Grubhub CEO Howard Migdal added that Claim's technology will augment Grubhub's marketing tools, benefiting its extensive network of merchants and diners.
Claim is currently accessible to Grubhub merchants and diners in New York City. A nationwide rollout is anticipated later this year. While Claim will temporarily remain available through its own app and website, a streamlined experience across both platforms is planned for the coming months.
