Goodyear's 'Goodyear Forward' turnaround strategy is being extended as the company works to restructure its business and address significant debt. CEO Mark Stewart is focused on achieving a 10% operating margin and generating meaningful cash flow, goals that have yet to be fully met. The company's financial performance has been impacted by over $7 billion in debt and a net loss of $453 million in the first half of 2026. Additional headwinds include tariffs, inflated raw material costs, and the expansion of lower-priced Chinese tire products globally. Stewart, who took over as CEO in January 2024, is steering Goodyear towards premium tire segments and cost savings. The company plans to close a plant in Fayetteville, North Carolina, next year, which is expected to improve its Americas segment operating income by $270 million annually. Despite global challenges, Goodyear's Asia-Pacific region shows a profit margin of 12.7%.
