Godrej Consumer Products has inaugurated the initial phase of its new manufacturing facility in Indonesia's Kendal Special Economic Zone. This strategic move, part of an IDR 500 billion investment, will boost the company's production capacity in Indonesia by about 15% across its home and personal care product lines.
The Kendal facility, built on 2.5 hectares, is equipped with integrated technology and data systems to enhance operational efficiency. It will initially produce household insecticides for the Indonesian market, while also serving as a hub for exports to the wider region. This expansion is crucial as Godrej Consumer Products' existing Indonesian operations are currently utilized at 75-80% capacity.
Since establishing its presence in Indonesia in 2010, Godrej Consumer Products has seen its business grow significantly, reaching approximately one in four Indonesian households with popular brands. The new facility underscores Indonesia's importance as a market and export platform for the company.
Furthermore, the company is committed to local development and inclusive employment. Godrej Consumer Products Indonesia aims for women to constitute 50% of the facility's workforce, alongside creating employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
