19 Jun
Summary
- Nearly 300 new homes planned at former EDF offices.
- Site retains arboretum, coach house, bowling green, and tennis courts.
- Concerns raised about increased traffic congestion at Corinium Roundabout.

Plans have been submitted to Gloucester City Council to demolish former EDF offices on Barnett Way, in Gloucester's Barnwood area, to construct 281 new homes. The proposed development will feature a mix of houses and apartments, alongside approximately 8000 sq m of employment floorspace.
The site's arboretum, coach house, bowling green, and tennis courts are slated for retention and will be improved for community access. This redevelopment follows EDF's relocation in 2022 to new offices at Gloucester Business Park after four decades at the Barnwood site.
Developer Robert Limbrick highlights the location's sustainability for both residential and employment uses. Despite the anticipated benefits, a local resident has objected, expressing concerns about increased traffic congestion, particularly at the Corinium Roundabout. The public consultation period for these plans concludes on July 2nd.
