The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas issued a statement on Friday, April 4, 2026, assuring the public of the continued availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG. Citizens are advised against panic purchasing and unnecessary LPG cylinder bookings, encouraging them to verify information through official channels only.
The government is actively implementing measures to guarantee uninterrupted supply of petroleum products and LPG nationwide. This includes enhancing refinery production and rationalizing both supply and demand. Domestic LPG and PNG services, along with critical facilities like hospitals and educational institutions, have been given the highest priority.
To alleviate pressure on LPG demand, alternative fuels such as PNG, kerosene, and coal are being promoted. States have been directed to facilitate new PNG connections and ensure sufficient coal distribution. Measures are also in place to prevent hoarding and misinformation, with strict vigilance against diversion of supplies.
Recent deliveries show robust figures, with approximately 55 Lakh Domestic LPG Cylinders delivered on Thursday, April 4, 2026. An additional allocation of 48000 KL of kerosene has been made to all states and Union Territories. Furthermore, specific guidelines have been issued to facilitate the distribution of PDS SKO at PSU OMC service stations for cooking and lighting purposes.
