Fremantle Revenues Dip, Earnings Soar Amid Production Shifts
11 Aug
Summary
- Fremantle's revenues fell nearly 8% in the first half of 2026.
- Despite lower revenues, Fremantle's earnings surged to nearly $70 million.
- AI integration is planned to optimize production costs until 2030.

Fremantle, the producer behind 'Kill Jackie,' reported a nearly 8% decline in half-yearly revenues, falling to €835 million ($963 million) for the first half of 2026. This decrease was attributed to timing effects within its drama and film production segments, while entertainment and documentaries remained stable. However, Fremantle's adjusted EBITA saw a substantial increase, rising from €39 million to €60 million, with its margin widening from 4.3% to 7.2%.
RTL projected that this revenue dip would reverse in the latter half of 2026, with slightly higher numbers anticipated due to new projects. Following a strategic review, Fremantle has implemented cost-saving measures, including exiting full film financing, and plans to continue cost reduction until 2030 through process simplification and AI-driven technical cost reductions.
Overall, RTL Group posted group revenues up 0.1% at €2.9 billion, with adjusted EBITA significantly higher at €239 million. Streaming revenue, from services like RTL+ and M6+, grew by 27.2% to €299 million, driven by subscriber growth and increased pricing in Germany and France. The company anticipates streaming to contribute around €100 million to its full-year operating profit.
