- Delhi subsidizes entire cost for solar panels up to 3 kW.
The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 13, 2024, provides significant financial incentives for residential rooftop solar installations. Central government assistance covers 60% for 2 kW systems and 40% for additional capacity up to 3 kW, with subsidies reaching ₹78,000 for 3 kW systems.
Eligible households can secure collateral-free, low-interest loans, with some banks offering rates as low as 5.75% p.a. The National Portal assists homeowners in selecting vendors and system sizes. This initiative targets adding 30 GW of solar capacity, expected to generate 1000 BUs and cut emissions significantly.
In Delhi, the government is subsidizing the entire cost of solar panel installation up to 3 kW capacity on a first-come, first-served basis, making it a zero-cost option for residents. The subsidy is directly credited to the beneficiary's bank account post-installation and inspection.
