Ford Recalls Nearly 750,000 Vehicles for Camera, Steering, and Seatbelt Issues

In a major safety recall, Ford Motor Company is recalling close to 750,000 vehicles in the United States due to a range of issues that could compromise driver safety. The recalls, announced in recent months, cover problems with the rearview camera display, steering column, and seatbelt cables across several Ford models.

The largest recall, affecting over 290,000 vehicles, is for a rearview camera issue. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) found that the 360-degree camera system in certain 2020-2022 Ford F-250 SD, F-350 SD, and F-450 SD models may not display rearview images properly in certain lighting conditions, hampering the driver's ability to see behind the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is also recalling 115,539 Super Duty trucks from the 2020-2021 model years due to a potential loss of steering control. The issue involves the steering column upper shaft detaching from the steering column, which could cause drivers to lose control of the vehicle.

Additionally, the automaker is recalling 332,778 Ford Mustang models from 2015-2017 for a seatbelt problem. Corrosion in the seatbelt cables can cause them to break, preventing the seatbelt from properly restraining passengers and increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Ford dealers will be inspecting and repairing or replacing the affected components free of charge for owners of the recalled vehicles. The company is working to address these safety issues and ensure the continued safe operation of its vehicles.
