2 Apr
Summary
- Construction on the Five Acres leisure centre starts April 27.
- The centre will feature a gym, studios, and facilities for limited mobility.
- Office and community spaces are also planned for the upper floors.

Construction is set to begin at the end of April on the Five Acres leisure centre in Berry Hill, near Coleford, Gloucestershire. Forest of Dean District Council announced that work will commence on April 27, following the finalization of a contract with developer Willmott Dixon.
This marks a significant step after years of delays that were attributed to planning issues, contractor changes, and escalating costs. Residents are thanked for their patience throughout the prolonged process.
The new facility will boast a fully equipped gym, fitness studios, and dedicated spaces for individuals with limited mobility. Additionally, a soft play area and a cafe are included in the designs. The upper levels are designated for office and community use, including an outreach location for Hartpury University.
Outside the main building, a 3G pitch suitable for rugby and football will be constructed. Willmott Dixon highlighted their commitment to supporting the local economy by collaborating with local supply chain partners during the build, aiming to create employment and development opportunities.
