Fiji Airways has expanded its reach into the North American market through a new codeshare agreement with Canadian carrier WestJet Airlines. This partnership connects travelers from various Canadian cities, including Calgary, Toronto, and Halifax, to Fiji via flights from Vancouver International Airport. The collaboration aims to capitalize on the growing Canadian interest in Fiji as a travel destination.
Recent data indicates a significant 19% increase in Canadian visitors to Fiji between 2025 and 2024. This new partnership is also expected to benefit travelers flying from Australia and New Zealand to Canada. Fiji Airways CEO Paul Scurrah highlighted the growing importance of the Canadian market for the Pacific region.
In addition to the codeshare, Fiji Airways is rolling out its "FlyWell" program on June 1. Initially available on long-haul routes to San Francisco and Los Angeles, this wellness initiative will offer business class passengers amenities such as red light therapy, energy drinks, and EMF protection. Wearable technology to monitor body rhythms will also be available.
The FlyWell program is designed to enhance the well-being of both guests and crew. It represents a departure from traditional airline offerings, providing curated in-flight products and lounge experiences. The program has the potential for future expansion to more routes and fare classes.
