Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) continued their net selling of Indian equities throughout fiscal year 2026, offloading shares worth over ₹1.5 lakh crore. However, this broad trend masked strategic investments, as FIIs consistently increased their holdings in three select companies across all quarters of FY26. GE Vernova T&D India, a grid solutions provider, saw its FII holding surge from 13.04% to 20.39%, driven by rising electricity demand and a growing order book of ₹21,500 crore. The company reported a 102.8% year-on-year profit growth in FY26. Great Eastern Shipping Company, India's largest shipping and oilfield services provider, experienced an FII stake increase from 25.44% to 28.44%. The company's strong order book and a 26% profit rise in FY26, coupled with a higher dividend yield, likely attracted investors. UPL Limited, a global agrichem company, saw FII holdings climb from 34.2% to 41.8%. Its focus on sustainable agriculture solutions and specialty chemicals, alongside a significant 170% profit jump in FY26, positions it for future growth in a rapidly expanding market.
