FedEx and Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) have initiated the development of a Rs 2,500 crore automated air cargo hub. This project is set to significantly enhance India's trade capacity and bolster the logistics network in Western India.
The new facility will serve as a regional consolidation and redistribution hub. Its advanced automated systems are designed to process inbound and outbound shipments efficiently, improving routing flexibility and transit time predictability. This upgrade is crucial for high-value and time-sensitive sectors.
Once operational, the hub is projected to create more than 6,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. This expansion is expected to strengthen export-import capabilities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), contributing to lower logistics costs and faster turnaround times.
