- Toll collection via FASTag reached Rs 39,118.15 crore.
- Average vehicle wait time reduced from 8 minutes to 45 seconds.

As of December 4, 2022, the Ministry of Finance reported that over 6.19 crore FASTags had been issued for vehicles nationwide.
Between February 16, 2021, and April 16, 2022, toll collection through FASTag amounted to Rs 39,118.15 crore, according to National Payments Corporation of India data for the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) fee plazas.
FASTags, prepaid rechargeable tags affixed to vehicle windshields, enable automatic toll payments, eliminating the need to stop at toll booths. Since February 15th/16th, all national highway fee plaza lanes have been designated as FASTag lanes.
This implementation has demonstrably eased traffic congestion, fulfilling a government commitment. The average waiting time at fee plazas has decreased from eight minutes to a mere 45 seconds. Vehicles without a functional FASTag are subject to double the toll charge.
Conversely, the NHAI has indicated it possesses no information concerning faulty FASTags or any penalties collected from motorists for non-functional tags. This lack of data was revealed in response to Right to Information (RTI) queries.
