Eisner: Haven't visited Disney HQ in 20 years

Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, who led the company from 1984 to 2005, stated he has not visited Disney headquarters since his departure over two decades ago. He explained this decision, comparing it to moving on after selling a home, despite receiving invitations. Eisner attributed some past disagreements to his own stubbornness, specifically regarding the acquisition of Pixar at what he considered an exorbitant price.

Eisner also discussed his role in removing Harvey Weinstein, a decision he believed was correct despite potential political unpopularity. He expressed readiness to leave his demanding role after 21 years, citing a desire for personal time and a break from managing numerous projects and emails. He noted that change in management is beneficial, creating opportunities for new directions.

Reflecting on the company's trajectory since his exit, the 83-year-old expressed confidence in Disney's current state. He lauded Bob Iger, whom he had recommended and supported for the CEO position, as an excellent leader. Eisner also offered advice to the newly appointed CEO, Josh D'Amaro, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing creativity and protecting the brand, while also remembering Walt Disney's principle of treating every guest as a VIP.
