Emirates Inks Massive $38 Billion Deal for 130 GE9X Engines

In a major announcement on November 17, 2025, Dubai-based carrier Emirates and GE Aerospace have signed an agreement for 130 additional GE9X engines to power Emirates' expanding fleet of Boeing 777-9 aircraft. This latest order, valued at $38 billion, builds on Emirates' previous GE9X commitments, making the airline the largest GE9X customer worldwide with a total of more than 540 engines on order.
The agreement also includes spare engines and a long-term services contract, further strengthening the 40-year partnership between Emirates and GE Aerospace. Emirates' first flight in October 1985 was powered by GE Aerospace engines, and the airline today operates the world's biggest fleets of Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s, both exclusively powered by GE engines.
"Emirates is already the world's largest Boeing 777 operator, and we are expanding our commitment to the program today with additional orders worth US$ 38 billion for 65 Boeing 777-9s, and 130 GE9X engines," said HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group. "This is a long-term commitment and testament to our partnership with Boeing and GE, and to US aerospace."
