Emirates Biotech Launches Local PLA Biopolymers

Emirates Biotech has launched its Embio product line of polylactic acid (PLA) biopolymers within the United Arab Emirates. This initiative introduces a domestically produced, plant-derived alternative to traditional plastics, catering to a growing demand for sustainable materials.

The Embio range offers various PLA grades suitable for applications spanning rigid and flexible packaging, paperboard coatings, fibres, and 3D printing. The company is also conducting pre-marketing activities across the Middle East, ensuring local stock availability to shorten lead times and accommodate smaller order quantities for businesses.

This launch aligns with the UAE's Net Zero 2050 agenda and its commitment to a circular economy. Embio's materials are designed for high clarity and strength, boasting a significantly reduced carbon footprint. The company emphasizes that Embio is either recyclable or industrially compostable, avoiding persistent microplastic pollution.
