Carpinteria Mansion Flips Again: Ellen DeGeneres' $35M Beach House Relisted for Third Time
15 Nov, 2025
Summary
- Ellen DeGeneres bought $18.6M Carpinteria beach house in 2017, sold it for $23M in 2019
- Current owner Jamie Kern Lima tried to sell it for $42M in 2024, now relisted at $34.9M
- Carpinteria is an exclusive celebrity enclave, but demand for luxury homes has cooled

As of November 15, 2025, Ellen DeGeneres' former $35 million beach house in Carpinteria, California, has been relisted for sale for the third time in the past 18 months. DeGeneres originally purchased the 6,862 square foot property in 2017 for $18.6 million and sold it less than two years later for $23 million to IT Cosmetics founder Jamie Kern Lima.
Kern Lima attempted to capitalize on the property's celebrity pedigree and high-end renovations by listing it for close to $42 million in 2024. However, with low demand, she was forced to cut the price to $39.9 million in January 2025. Last month, Kern Lima took the property off the market and has now relisted it for $34.9 million.
Carpinteria is an exclusive community located 15 minutes from Santa Barbara that is home to many celebrities, including Kevin Costner, Ashton Kutcher, George Lucas, and Kourtney Kardashian. But it appears the luxury real estate market in the area has cooled, as the Carpinteria home is one of only three in the city with a higher price tag, and two of those were just listed in the past week.
