East Coast Railway (ECoR) has demonstrated exceptional financial performance, achieving Rs 23,000 crore in freight earnings by January 19, 2026. This landmark was reached in 294 days, significantly outpacing last year's achievement by 27 days.
The zone's total originating earnings experienced a substantial growth of 11.21 percent. Between the financial years 2024-25 and 2025-26, earnings climbed from Rs 21,543 crore to Rs 23,959 crore as of December 2025.
Passenger earnings also saw an increase, rising to Rs 1,835.91 crore from Rs 1,764.32 crore. Crucially, freight earnings jumped from Rs 19,482.63 crore to Rs 21,749.38 crore, highlighting a strong foundation in goods transportation.
