Drukair, Royal Bhutan Airlines, is set to boost its flight operations via Guwahati starting April 2026. The airline will reintroduce twice-weekly flights from Paro to Bangkok through Guwahati and add a third weekly service to Singapore via the same route. These enhancements are designed to strengthen regional connectivity and travel options.
The expanded services are expected to significantly support tourism, medical travel, education, and business exchanges between Bhutan, Northeast India, and Thailand. Bangkok serves as a vital regional gateway, while Singapore is a global aviation and financial hub, offering extensive onward connectivity.
These new flight frequencies align with India's 'Act East Policy' and are crucial for the development of Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City, with its airport slated for operation by 2029. Drukair CEO Tandi Wangchuk highlighted the strong India-Bhutan relationship and the strategic importance of these expanded routes for economic growth and international engagement.
