Dreame's Rocket Car: Vaporware Fueled by Dry Government Funds

Dreame, a Chinese technology firm, has reportedly ceased operations for its automotive project, "Project Starry Sky." The initiative, which previously employed over 1,000 individuals, is now being dissolved due to the drying up of government funding. This decision comes in the wake of new regulations issued by the Chinese government to increase oversight of its substantial private fund industry.

Previously, Dreame showcased a concept car, the "Nebula Next 01 Jet Edition," boasting impressive theoretical acceleration and a solid-state battery. However, reports indicate the concept vehicle was vaporware, lacking a chassis and operated remotely, raising questions about its feasibility and the company's transparency.

Dreame plans to refocus its resources on four key business areas: smart home, outdoor/garden, smart mobility, and embodied AI. This strategic shift aims to consolidate the company's efforts following its expansion into numerous affiliated ventures funded by government capital.
