- Venue's future depends on the upcoming Chancellor's Budget.

For the past nine months, the Dragonfly Lounge has been a beacon of inclusivity in Colchester, opening its doors to all. This vibrant LGBTQ+ bar and community hub proudly hosts drag cabaret, live music performances, and provides a crucial space for local artisans to showcase their creations.
Co-owner Jo Palmer-Tweed, also known as Mamma Dragonfly, envisioned the venue as a safe and truly inclusive environment. She stated her goal was to welcome everyone, regardless of their background or identity, emphasizing a space free from judgment and open to all.
After a two-year effort to raise the necessary funds, the lounge has become a vital part of the community. However, its continued operation may be significantly impacted by Chancellor Rachel Reeves' forthcoming Budget announcement, placing its future in question.
