In August 2026, DP World Cochin's International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) surpassed all previous records, processing 97,952 TEUs. This achievement represents a substantial 51% surge in throughput compared to the same period last year. The terminal demonstrated remarkable operational capacity by handling 51 additional vessel calls between June and August 2026, ensuring consistent cargo flow amidst global trade disruptions.
This record performance highlights ICTT's growing significance as a critical hub for regional and international commerce. Hemant Kumar Ruia, Country Manager for DP World's Subcontinent, emphasized the team's dedication and customer trust driving these strong volumes. The facility is equipped with advanced infrastructure to manage large vessels and increased cargo, ensuring efficient operations.
Complementing its terminal operations, DP World has also established Kerala's inaugural Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) in Kochi. This facility is unique as India's only FTWZ situated within a major port, further enhancing Kochi's competitive edge as a trade gateway.
