Disney Cruise Line Increases Wi-Fi Costs

Disney Cruise Line has recently increased the cost of its onboard Wi-Fi services without prior announcement. The daily rate for the standard internet package, which does not support video streaming, has gone up from $26 to $30. Similarly, the premium internet package, inclusive of streaming capabilities, now costs $49 per day, a rise from $42. These price adjustments represent a 15% and 17% increase respectively.

These new prices make Disney's Wi-Fi offerings more expensive compared to some other cruise lines. For instance, Carnival Cruise Line offers basic Wi-Fi for approximately $23.80 per day and premium for around $25.50 per day. The limitations on device usage, with packages only working for one device at a time and no discounts for multiple devices within a party, can further increase the overall expense for families traveling together.

This Wi-Fi price hike follows other recent changes by Disney impacting guest experience and costs. Earlier this year, Disney altered the system for purchasing theme park tickets for guests wishing to visit parks before or after a cruise. Previously, park tickets could be added to cruise reservations, locking in prices. Now, these tickets must be booked separately. Additionally, Disney is exploring dynamic ticket pricing for its theme parks, a system already in use in Disneyland Paris, which could lead to further cost fluctuations based on demand.
