The firm's UK and Swiss operations reported a 2 percent increase in revenue, reaching £5.8 billion. Concurrently, profits saw a significant 14 percent rise, amounting to £899 million, attributed to "careful cost management." These financial results represent a recovery from the previous year, which saw revenues decline for the first time in 15 years.
In efforts to control expenses, Deloitte offered voluntary redundancy to nearly 3 percent of its audit staff, resulting in a total workforce reduction of 1,000 individuals from its previous headcount of 26,000. Despite these cuts, the number of equity partners expanded by 6.5 percent to a new high of 784.
The consulting division, a substantial part of Deloitte's business, experienced revenue growth of 4 percent to £1.8 billion, signaling a strong demand for enterprise technology support and transformation projects. This growth contrasts with PwC's reported decline in consulting revenues. Darren Graves, Deloitte's new UK leadership, acknowledged the complex environment of geopolitical uncertainty and AI advancement, emphasizing the continued importance of human experience and judgment in the face of increasing AI capabilities.
