Delhi Readies Rs 300 Crore Road Overhaul Ahead of Monsoon

In the lead-up to the upcoming monsoon season, the Public Works Department (PWD) in Delhi is gearing up to launch a comprehensive road overhaul project worth an estimated Rs 300 crore. The ambitious plan includes the revamp of over 80 road stretches across the city, with the Noida Link Road and the Noida Mor flyover slip road being among the top priorities.

These vital thoroughfares, which are heavily used by commuters traveling through the DND Flyway, are set to undergo a range of upgrades, including the installation of reflective road markings, cat's-eye reflectors, and solar-powered studs. The project, estimated to cost Rs 3.68 crore, is part of the PWD's broader post-monsoon strategy to strengthen Delhi's crumbling infrastructure.

The overhaul will encompass a bituminous road package, resurfacing, and strengthening of the carriageways. Additionally, the corridors will undergo a comprehensive safety upgrade to enhance the driving experience for motorists. The PWD has already identified several key roads in central, north, east, and northeast Delhi that will be part of this revamp, including Arya Samaj Road, DB Gupta Road, Deshraj Bhatia Marg, and Shiva Khand Road, among others.

With the monsoon season often exposing the fragility of Delhi's roads, the PWD's proactive approach to road maintenance and strengthening is a welcome move. The department aims to ensure that the city's vital transportation arteries are better equipped to withstand the challenges posed by the heavy rains and the subsequent wear and tear.
