The Union Cabinet has given its approval for Phase 5A of the Delhi Metro, a substantial expansion set to introduce three new corridors. This ambitious project will add approximately 16 kilometers of track and 13 new stations to the existing network, significantly enhancing public transportation options.
The approved corridors are designed to improve connectivity between vital areas, including Airport Terminal 1, Kalindi Kunj, and Central Secretariat. This development is a key step in modernizing Delhi's urban transport system, with an allocated budget of ₹12,015 crore.
This expansion is projected to alleviate traffic congestion and contribute to a reduction in pollution levels within the National Capital Region. It promises to offer improved transit for commuters traveling to and from Gurugram, Noida, and central Delhi.
