Delhi Hotels Skyrocket Prices During AI Summit
11 Feb
Summary
- Average room rates surged to Rs 40,000-Rs 60,000 nightly.
- High demand stems from AI Summit and wedding season.
- Limited luxury suites are driving the highest reported rates.

During the recent AI Impact Summit in Delhi, the Hotel Association of India reported that average nightly room rates for accommodations ranged between Rs 40,000 and Rs 60,000. This surge in pricing is driven by exceptionally high demand, exacerbated by the ongoing wedding season and the Cricket World Cup, which have pushed occupancy levels to near capacity.
While a substantial portion of hotel inventory was secured at pre-negotiated rates, the limited rooms currently available are predominantly luxury suites. These premium accommodations are priced according to usual market dynamics for periods of intense demand. Consequently, reported rates often reflect these higher-tier rooms rather than the general average.
The tourism and culture minister has engaged with the Hotel Association of India to address these concerns. The association is committed to gathering accurate data and ensuring guest interests are protected, supporting India's reputation as a global event host.
