Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote has chosen Honeywell Technologies for engineering services, licensing, and equipment for a new refinery planned in Kenya. This significant project, valued at $16 billion, will have a capacity of 700,000 barrels per day and is situated in Kenya's Lamu county.
Construction on the refinery has commenced, despite ongoing legal challenges from conservationists and landowners. Honeywell Technologies brings extensive experience, having previously collaborated with Dangote on upgrades to his Nigerian refinery, which is doubling its capacity.
This new Kenyan refinery is slated to become a vital supplier of diesel, petrol, and jet fuel for Kenya, the largest economy in East Africa. Products will also be exported to neighboring countries, bolstering regional energy security and economic activity.
