Earlier this year, around 30 Dairy Queen franchises in Texas were forced to shut down after the parent company, American Dairy Queen, terminated their franchises for failing to remodel their locations. This meant those Dairy Queen locations could no longer order supplies from the parent corporation, leading to their closure.
Elsewhere, devoted customers of Rita's Italian Ice have had to find alternative frozen treats, as some Rita's locations across the country close their doors for about four months each year, with the 2025 season ending on October 13th. Meanwhile, a Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers franchisee, M&M Custard LLC and 31 affiliates, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in mid-November to reorganize their businesses and restructure debts.
