Cummins, a U.S. truck engine manufacturer, announced a modest 1% rise in fourth-quarter revenue, totaling $8.54 billion. This performance was bolstered by robust sales in its power generation systems and distribution segments, successfully compensating for a downturn in North American truck demand. The distribution segment, handling global sales and service, experienced a 7% year-on-year increase.
Despite the overall revenue growth, shares saw a nearly 6% decline in pre-market trading. The company's clean energy segment, Accelera, reported a significant 31% revenue increase, though it also incurred $218 million in charges related to its electrolyzer business as part of a strategic review.
Quarterly profit climbed by 41% to $4.27 per share, including $1.54 per share in charges from Accelera. For the upcoming full year 2026, Cummins forecasts a revenue increase ranging from 3% to 8%. CEO Jennifer Rumsey expressed optimism for improved North American on-highway truck market demand in the latter half of 2026, alongside continued strength in data center power generation markets.
